Smart N Haida was purchased to complete our stud battery. He is out of Smart Little Lena and Haida Ho [NCHA LTE: $38,357 and her progency has earned over $131,384]. Smart N had the breeding background that we were looking for...a pedigree that screamed success. He was trained as a cutter, but had a limited show career due to a stifle injury. Don Ellis rode this guy, and gave rave reviews to his cow savy.
It is with great saddness that we had to make the toughest of decisions: that 'Smart N' was in severe pain and that we must relieve him of that burden. To that order, in 2009 we put him down. I am one that believes that great horses are given the same respect by the Good Lord as humans, and I know Smart N Haida has a place in green pastures with no pain. He, too, lives on here at HAR in his progeny.
Our only two year old is out of this stud. He has had 60 days on cows and now we have been going on with him. He is getting very broke for a youngester. He will change a lead both ways, we are swinging a rope off of him and keeping him exposed to cattle. Nice prospect. See him and videos on the '2 yr olds' page.
